Dear Parents,
Big Smiles all round last week. After a whole term of planning, rehearsals and preparation, came time for the successful staging of our concert.
The response from our star performers (all 420 of them) has been fantastic, having had a new opportunity to learn, participate and have fun. By the end of the week they were ready to take on the world. Reports of new confidence are being filtered back to me by parents on a daily basis.
Such a grand scale event hasn’t happened here before so we learnt some things along the way;
v Some parents don’t read the newsletter which is given to the eldest student in each family every family every Thursday – there are always spares at the office. v The response to ticket sales was fantastic, eventually, but some people left it until too late unfortunately. v Next time we would/could advertise the matinee option from the beginning. v Parents and teachers were extremely proud of their charges – tears of happiness were not uncommon.
A small group of staff did a terrific job leading the organization of the concert, but everyone was involved one way or another showing that teamwork was the winner at the end of the day. A huge vote of appreciation to one of our parents, Maria Angelkovic, who was our overall creative director.
Attached to today’s newsletter is an order form for the purchase of concert DVD’s. A separate DVD for each concert has been made. Orders, together with payment, need to be brought to the office no later than Friday, November 4th (no late orders can be taken).
Caste photos are still on display in the main corridor. Orders for these must close tomorrow (Friday, October 21st).
Kind Regards, Bronwyn Dell, Principal

All Day Every Day
These children in 1/2K were here all day every day last week.
Breakfast Program: I would like to thank everyone for adhering to the 8.15 – 8.45 a.m. breakfast time so far this term. This gives me ample time to set up for breakfast before the children arrive and also ensures that all children are in class by 9.00 o’clock. Breakfast, which consists of a variety of cereals, toast, fruit, fruit juice and Milo, is served from Tuesday through to Friday. A gold coin donation is appreciated and helps to cover some of the costs. Sharon Sandy
Maths Visitor: Students and teachers had the benefit of another visit to our school by Michael Ymer, the distinguished mathematician and teacher. Throughout the day he modeled lessons and activities across the school. This builds on the work done in numeracy from 2003 and his visits in 2004. Children and teachers alike enjoyed the great activities and strong use of good manners when working with others. |
