Principal Awards 10th May 2021

Principal Awards

Congratulations to the following students who received their Principal Award at Monday’s assembly;

Kya Thomas, Hunter Oakley, Nyachiang Biliew, Kysen Kilgore, Chudier Ruach, Tyler Barry, Aiden Duguay, Poppy Simmons, Christopher Soesanto, Tahli, Ryder Farnham and Dakota James.

Assistant Principal’s Awards

Congratulations to both Jett Whiteley and Jamal Hayes who both received Assistant Principal Awards on Monday. Jett took another student to a play area and played with them because they were upset and Jamal opened a door for Mrs Hicks who had her hands full, showing great manners in the process.

Open Day/Night

Our Open Night will be happening on Tuesday 25th May. This has historically been a community event, with current and possible future parents invited to a ‘Treasure Hunt’ style evening. The night will commence at 5.00pm and finish at 6.00pm. Each family will receive a raffle ticket in each of their child’s classroom and these tickets will go into a draw for a $100 meat tray.

Junior School Council will also be selling sausages for $1.50 and cans of drink for $2.00

During the day we will hold a student lead information session for parents of prospective 2022 Prep students in the staffroom, commencing at 9.00am.

Cross Country

On Monday the 3rd of May, sixteen enthusiastic students from Liddiard Road ran the cross country at Agnes Brereton Park. A little bit of rain on the day didn’t dampen our students’ spirits. It was a long race, everyone tried their best and came away proud of crossing that finish line.

Thank you to the parents who came to support us on the day.

Naplan

Our grades three and five students did their NAPLAN (National Assessment Program for Literacy and Numeracy) testing this week.  Much has been said and written about NAPLAN testing in the media.  We believe that the NAPLAN process in schools should be part of the program just like any other assessment that we do.  The results give us a snap shot of how our children are performing in May of each year and we use the results to assist us with assessing our program. Please be mindful that the NAPLAN tests are only one way that students are assessed and we monitor student achievement in many ways, all throughout the year.

MELBOURNE ZOO EXCURSION

All Parents/guardians of children in Grade 1/2F, 1/2H and 1/2T,

During term two students are learning about wild animals and we have organised a trip to the Melbourne Zoo as part our unit of work. The students will be able to see the animal that they have chosen to research and learn new facts about them.

We are very excited about this excursion early in Term 2.  If eligible you may use your CSEF allocation towards this excursion.

If you are unable to pay in full, a payment plan can be organised through the school.

When: 21st May 2021

Time: Be at school at 7:15am, returning at 5:30pm (Approx)

Cost: $50

Give a Damn Give a Can

GIVE A DAMN GIVE A CAN
The Junior School Council will once again be running the ‘Give a Damn Give a Can’ initiative over the coming weeks. There will no doubt be stiff competition between classes and units to see who can collect the most cans. Let the competition begin!

Mothers/Special Person Day Stall

Thanks to our wonderful Parents Club for their organisation of the Mother’s Day stall last week. It was another great example of the work that these parents do. They spent many hours organising and setting up the stall and we thank them for their contribution.

Readers Emporium Vouchers

Readers Emporium Vouchers

Mr. Price has asked that we remind you to use your Reader’s Emporium vouchers. We have been very fortunate to access these vouchers and we believe this initiative will help develop children’s love of reading further.
