ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AWARDS
Congratulations to both Christopher Soesanto and Alex Katiforis who both received an Assistant Principal Award on Friday.
We had a fantastic Athletics Carnival here at school over two days recently. All of our students participated successfully in a variety of events.
On Friday, the grades 3-6 students competed in events that are more typically aligned to track and field (eg. sprints, hurdles, shot put, long jump and triple jump).
On Thursday, our grade Prep – 2 students sampled a number of similar events but were also encouraged to have a go at other novelty events including: the sack race, tennis ball throw, egg and spoon race and bean bag race.
Despite the purpose of this sports day being aimed at encouraging participation, there was plenty of cheering and competitive juices flowing. In a tightly contested affair, the winning house at the end of both days was Macalister (Red House).
After performing well at the School Athletics Days, 48 students will proudly represent the school at the District Athletics Carnival on Tuesday 22nd of March at the Harold Preston Reserve in Traralgon. We wish them well!!
Next Wednesday the Grade 5/6 Junior School Council representatives and our school captains will be attending the National Young Leaders conference with about 5000 other student leaders from around Victoria. They’ll be getting up with the sparrows to attend the conference in Melbourne where they will get to develop their leadership skills and listen to guest speakers such as Cate Campbell (Olympic Swimmer) and Damien Fleming (Test Cricketer and Media personality). This will be a great experience and an opportunity for our student leadership team to build upon their leadership skills and to get ideas that they may be able to use at our school.
The Junior School Council is again running the Random Acts of Kindness Award during 2022. If you see your child doing an act of kindness, please write it down on a piece of paper and place it in the Random Acts of Kindness box at the front office or alternatively send Mr. Price a XUNO message with the random act on it and he’ll pop it in the box for you. Each JSC meeting we draw out one winner who receives a certificate and a $20 K-Mart voucher.
Emily Whiting represented our school at the Zone Swimming Sports last week in Sale. She competed in two events, placing first in one of these races. We congratulate her on her fine performance, which will now see her represent our school in Melbourne late this year! Well done Emily!!
A School Council student free day is scheduled for Friday April 1. On this day, staff will be at school working collaboratively to develop planning documents and set future teaching directions.
