ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AWARDS
Congratulations to both Luciana-Rose Ross and Tahli Cooke on receiving their Assistant Principal Awards this week.
Our grades three and five students did their NAPLAN (National Assessment Program for Literacy and Numeracy) testing last week. Much has been said and written about NAPLAN testing in the media. We believe that the NAPLAN process in schools should be part of the program just like any other assessment that we do. The results give us a snap shot of how our children are performing in May of each year and we use the results to assist us with assessing our program. Please be mindful that the NAPLAN tests are only one way that students are assessed and we monitor student achievement in many ways, all throughout the year.
Just a reminder that this 8-session program will occur over two weeks and be held at the Ford Swim Centre. We believe that the program offered is exceptional in terms of developing swimming and water safety skills.
The Open Day morning was successful in showcasing the talents and skills of our student body. Our senior school leaders shared a presentation and showed our prospective 2023 Prep Parents around the school. They were confident, well organised and excellent examples of the citizens we produce here at LRPS.
We had a really good turn out on Monday night to the Treasure Hunt Open Night. The children and parents appeared to really enjoy themselves as they went around to each classroom, searching for clues. We thank everyone for once again supporting such events.
Congratulations to Sunday Deng, our Treasure Hunt winner.
For Term 2, 2022, the Department of Education and Training has provided schools with the option to hold each teacher’s allocated professional practice day on the same day for all staff. This is to enable the most effective and efficient use of this day.
As a result, we have scheduled our professional practice day for next Monday May 30th. Students will therefore not be required to attend school on this day.
The 2022 Attitudes to School Survey will be conducted shortly for Year 4-6 students. This annual student survey collects data to support student wellbeing, engagement, school improvement and planning in schools. Data collected will help our school gain an overall picture of student perceptions of school and their learning.
