WELCOME BACK

We hope that everyone had a fantastic Easter and Holiday break. This will be another exciting term here at LRPS with a number of events and excursions planned including:

  • Grade 1/ 2 Gumbuya World Excursion (May 26nd)
  • Open Day/ Night (Tuesday April 30th)
  • Grade 3 / 4 Swimming (June 17 – June 27)

 

GIVE A DAMN GIVE A CAN

The Junior School Council will once again be running the ‘Give a Damn Give a Can’ initiative over the coming weeks. There will no doubt be stiff competition between classes and units to see who can collect the most cans. Last year we amongst the most prolific collector of cans compared to all local schools. Rotary will be collecting the cans between May 13 -17. Let the competition begin!

 



ANZAC DAY

Please note that next Thursday 25th April is Anzac Day and as such, there will be no students at school. We will have a small representation of student leaders at the Kay Street Gardens cenotaph for the Anzac Day commemorations starting at 11am. During the ceremony, our student leaders will lay a wreath as a mark of respect on our school’s behalf. 



OPEN DAY/NIGHT

Our Open Day/Night will be happening on Tuesday 30th April. This year we will have a Family Maths night. The night will commence at 5.00pm and finish at 6.00pm. During the day we will hold a student lead information session for parents of prospective 2025 Prep students in the staffroom, commencing at 9.00am.

Priority Primary Care Centre (PPCC)

New emergency care option for the Latrobe Valley

Latrobe Priority Primary Care Centre (PPCC) provides free GP-led care to people who need urgent care, but not an emergency response.

They provide urgent care for injuries and illnesses including:

  • mild to moderate infections
  • fever
  • pain when urinating
  • suspected fractures and sprains
  • back and muscle pain
  • minor cuts, burns, and insect or animal bites
  • heartburn, vomiting, nausea
  • headaches, migraines and brief fainting
  • constipation, diarrhoea, abdominal pain
  • allergies and rashes
  • light bleeding in the first trimester of pregnancy
  • mild to moderate asthma attacks, coughs and other respiratory symptoms

No appointment is needed.

The Latrobe PPCC may prove a better alternative to the hospital emergency department for you and your family if you need urgent – but non-life threatening – care.
