MOTHER'S DAY STALL

Thanks to the staff, parents and students for their support of the Mother’s Day stall held earlier this week. Our staff ensured that there were a large range of gifts from which to choose. We trust that you enjoy what your children selected and hope that you have a wonderful Mother’s Day on Sunday!

DISTRICT CROSS COUNTRY

On Tuesday, April 30th, 22 of our enthusiastic students participated in the District Cross Country event! The weather was fantastic, making it a perfect day for running. Each of our runners gave it their all and had a great time. Well done to everyone who took part! Good luck to Lily Cooper for Division Cross Country next week.

Miss Wosko.

OPEN DAY/NIGHT

We held our Open Day/ Night on Tuesday April 30. The Open Day ran from 9.00am – 10.am, and essentially involved a short presentation from school leaders followed by a School Tour. Our student leaders were confident, well organised and excellent examples of the citizens we produce here at LRPS. The Open night ran from 5pm – 6pm and saw parents and their children participating in a Family Maths night. Whilst this was on, staff also conducted tours for new parents. Both events were very successful and we thank everyone for their support.

TOILET FUNDING

After putting in for a smarty grant, we have recently heard from the Minister for Education, that the school will receive funding for some new toilets over the next 18-24 months. Over one million dollars has been allocated to fund this project, for which we a very grateful. Planning and preparation around the design of the toilet block will start later this year.

RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS

We wanted to remind our school community that we are committed to implementing a whole-school approach to Respectful Relationships and to help combat family violence in Victoria. We understand that gender stereotypes and gender inequality are one of the leading contributors to family violence. We believe that our school can generate lasting changes in young people's attitudes and behaviours and that we can improve student and staff knowledge of family violence, gender equality, inclusion and respectful relationships. We feel that through better education and understanding that we can begin the first steps in creating long lasting respectful relationships that make our community a safe and happier place to live in. If you have any queries about the Respectful Relationships program please feel to speak with the teachers or myself. Mr. Price

GIVE A DAMN GIVE A CAN

This year we are once again taking part in the drive to donate as many cans as possible to the Traralgon Rotary clubs ‘Give a Damn, Give a Can’ Appeal. These cans are donated to the St Vinnies Food Bank and then distributed to families in need. We have a proud tradition of supporting this initiative and have been one of the top schools generating the most donations for over a decade now. So please, given that times are tough for a lot of people in our area, if you have any spare cans of food in the pantry that you are able to donate, we would be extremely grateful.  We are lucky to be part of such a giving school community and appreciate the efforts our parents and guardians go to when we take part in initiatives that give back to our wider community. Thank you everyone.
