WELCOME BACK

Welcome back!

Welcome back! We hope that you had a fantastic Christmas and a relaxing holiday break.

All of the students have settled into their classrooms extremely well. The classes and learning spaces looked fantastic on Day 1 and I would like to thank all staff for their work on the holidays to achieve this.

SCHOOL COUNCIL STUDENT FREE DAYS

The following are the School Council approved student free days in 2025:

- Tuesday March 11th – Professional Learning
- Friday May 12th – Professional Learning
- Monday November 3rd – this is the Monday before the Melbourne Cup

Please note that there is another Professional Practice Day (Student Free Day) to be allocated this year. We will notify parents as soon as this is determined.

STUDENT LEADERS

Congratulations to our Student Leadership team for 2025. These students will be involved in organising and running events throughout the year. They’ll also be involved in cooking, looking after our playgrounds and animals and helping the younger students develop their reading skills. I know the staff are looking forward to working with these students this year.

SCHOOL INFORMATION

May I take this opportunity to remind you that we are asking that parents do not enter buildings with your children once the bell rings at 8:45am.

We ask you to say your goodbyes and encourage them to enter their classroom on their own. There were only a very small number of students who needed a little extra TLC this week, so if your child is happy to head into class without you, we ask that you allow them to do so.

Could we also ask that you don’t congregate near building entrances, as it can be overwhelming for some of our younger students to move past a large group of adults. If you are in the school for longer than 15 minutes you are required to sign in at the office.

As always, if you need to speak with a teacher, please do this at pickup in the afternoons. This is the best time to do this as teachers are busy preparing for the day and settling students in the mornings. For minor inquiries, please send the teacher a XUNO message.

PARKING

Please note that the traffic island in the service lane on Liddiard Road and the nature strip on Shakespeare Street are not a car parking place or a space for you to drop off your children. By parking at these places you are putting not only your children but others at risk.

The Latrobe City Parking Inspectors have fined individuals for parking illegally in these places before and will no doubt do so in the future. Please refrain from parking on the traffic island in the service lane and other No Parking places for the safety of all of our students and school community.

TERM 4 SUNSMART

In keeping with our SunSmart Policy, children are required to wear a broad brimmed hat during Term 4. Hats are not only required for recess and lunch but also for PE sessions.

We ask that all children have a school approved hat at school for the rest of this term. Given that exposure to UV during childhood and adolescence is a major factor in determining future skin cancer risk, children without a hat will be required to sit in a designated shaded area.

Hats are available at the school office for $10.
